The following add appeared in a Sunday newspaper during the peak of the hype about Comet Halley in 1985. Note that the telescope has "600%" magnification, or 6x. The lenses are "shatter-resistant" (plastic) and the "hi-impact, corrosion-resistant polymer housing" is also plastic. The 40mm lens has a "integral aperture stop" which means that the lens is of such poor quality that only the central portion of it is used to form an image. Thus the usable aperture is somewhat less than 40mm. No mounting is supplied. We're guessing the "Guide to Seeing the Comet" collector's parchments, commissioned by Western Reserve Optics (suitable for framing) are no longer available.
