Finding NGC 253: 

The easiest way to find NGC 253 is to wait until Diphda is due south (On November 15th, this is about 8:50pm), then slowly scan down below it to pick up two faint triangles of stars.  NGC 253 will show up as a dim patch of light that below and to the right of the lower triangle of stars.  See the binocular finder chart below.  As with all deep sky objects, a dark moonless night free of light-pollution will give the best view.
